  • Overview

    Partnered with Oklahoma’s largest most comprehensive health system, and level 1 trauma center, offering expertise in more medical specialties than any other hospital system in the state. We are looking for an experienced Nurse Practitioner with a background in Cardiology Acute Care.


    This position is responsible for designing, implementing, and evaluating CVI patient specific and population based programs of care for CVI. In addition, this position will help develop an internal database to monitor patient outcomes, research opportunities and financial stewardship. 


    • Performs as the clinical expert in evidenced-based practice within the cardiovascular population.
    • Responsible for designing, implementing and evaluating CVI patient specific and population-based programs of care for CVI.
    • In collaboration with a physician and nursing, performs comprehensive initial patient evaluations through physical exam, patient history and review of laboratory results. 
    • Documents information in patient medical record when appropriate.  Conducts rounds with nursing and physician as needed.  Develop clinical protocols that are evidence based for patient management adjusts treatment as appropriate.
    • Development of internal database to monitor patient outcomes, research opportunities and financial stewardship. Monitors clinical outcome, identify quality analysis needs, and contributes to quality guidelines in collaboration with ACC and STS guidelines.   
    • Perform and demonstrates procedures in accordance with defined qualifications and competencies. Collaborates with other healthcare professionals in interdisciplinary rounds for patient care and assists with discharges to facilitate continuity of care.
    • When appropriate to the patient’s needs, provides educational information to patient and family regarding the patient’s condition. 
    • Conducts the educational activities for the staff during orientation, annual reviews and as needed. Administers medications in accordance with Oklahoma State laws. Cellphone availability 24/7. 
    • Duties may vary based on program needs. 



    Education: Master’s Degree in Nursing. Graduate from an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program
    • Master's in Acute Care or Geriatric Psych, not considering family Nurse Practitioner's at this time.
    Experience: Three (3) years of advanced practice nurse experience preferred. Prior Cardiovascular experience preferred. Strong Clinical Experience required
    Licensure: Possession of a valid Oklahoma nursing license issued by the Oklahoma State Board of Nursing. Certificate of Recognition for Practice Advanced Practice Registered Nurse. Prescriptive Authority from the Oklahoma State Board of Nursing is preferred ACLS within 6 months of hire. Current American Heart Association BLS required. Certification in CVI specialty
    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:   
    • Previous experience in complex clinical settings that required coordination of multiple series in a multidisciplinary fashion.
    • Previous experience in academic setting preferred. Advanced physical and psychosocial assessment of the complex cardiovascular patient population.
    • Critical analysis and pro-solving skills; Ability to work independently, ability to interpret laboratory and radiographic data.
    • Ability to work collaboratively through consultation with other healthcare team providers.
    • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing in English.
