    Responsibilities

    Overview: 

    • 6 Step Down beds prepared with bedside cardiac monitoring. In step down level of care more critical and advanced nursing interventions are provided and may include treatment such as
      • CPAP/BIPAP
      • Hemodynamic monitoring
      • Arterial Lines
      • Insulin Drips
      • Administration and care of patients receiving intra-peritoneal chemotherapy
      • Administration and care of patients receiving high dose Interleukin 2
    • 8 Medical Oncology beds with a patient population consisting of those diagnosed with disease processes classified as solid tumor cancers. Patient’s acuities are often high because of the potential for multi system complications related to chemotherapy and/or disease processes.
    • Nursing interventions and treatments may include:
      • Chemotherapy and Biotherapy administration and monitoring
      • Blood product administration
      • Palliative care
      • Management of oncologic emergencies (TLS, DIC, Neutropenic Fever, Cardiac Tamponade)
      • Management Central Venous Catheter including port

     

    Responsibilites: 

    • Under general supervision, provides nursing care in a hospital to a variety of patients with health problems ranging from simple to complex.
    • Assumes responsibility for an assigned group of patients.
    • Documents patient responses to nursing interventions and prescribed medical treatments; notes all changes in physician order on assigned patients.
    • Assists physician in the examination of patients and in performing minor diagnostic procedures and treatment.
    • Obtains and monitors physiological data of patients, observes the physiological manifestations of patients and intervenes when necessary.
    • Administers medication as prescribed. Initiates, regulates and monitors intravenous infusions and blood products.
    • Delivers patient care competently.
    • Interacts with family and patient in sharing care plan while in the hospital and at time of discharge. Informs patient and family of hospital procedures.
    • Makes referral regarding patient care needs to appropriate personnel. Delegates tasks to support staff.

     

     

    Qualifications

    Education: A graduate of an accredited school of nursing. - Preferred Education: BSN

    Licensure: Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of Oklahoma.
    Certifications: CPR certification. - Preferred Licensure: ACLS
